Aly Amidei, an assistant professor of costume design, adapted the vampire fiction novella “Carmilla” into an audio play that the Chicago-based Lifeline Theatre Company will begin streaming on Saturday, Oct. 30. Written in 1871-72 by the Irish author J. Sheridan Le Fanu, “Carmilla” was an inspiration for Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel, “Dracula.” The three-part audio drama will be available for listening until Tuesday, Nov. 30.

Amidei has been active with Lifeline Theatre since 2011, designing costumes for a dozen productions. In 2016 she was the adaptor, co-lyricist and costume designer for “Lester's Dreadful Sweaters,” and in 2018, she adapted and designed costumes for “Bunny's Book Club, both for Lifeline's KidSeries.”
