University to distribute HEERF III grants to eligible students

Thursday, November 11, 2021

UNC Charlotte will begin its final round of grant distributions to qualifying students to help cover expenses related to the cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to the coronavirus pandemic. The grants are part of the $38.9 million allocation by the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III) under the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSA). This final grant disbursement comes from the $10.9 million allocation received earlier this year that was included in the third phase of federal support to the University during the pandemic.

Grants will automatically be offered to Pell-eligible students. Other categories of students who have exceptional financial need will also be considered. Students who received previous funding through CARES, HEERF or the Student Emergency Fund remain eligible to receive this funding. Eligible students will be notified by email prior to December 1, 2021.

Qualifying undergraduate and graduate students who did not receive previous grants through this program may complete a HEERF Emergency request form at 2021-22 Student Higher Education Emergency Fund Relief Application. Students who may have had a change to their family financial circumstances, such as job loss or income loss may file a reconsideration request form to see if they qualify for additional federal or state financial aid.  Additional information is available on the Niner Nation Cares site.
