Fatma Mili, dean of the College of Computing and Informatics (CCI), has announced her intention to leave UNC Charlotte on June 30, 2022. She has accepted the role of provost at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

"I would like to thank UNC Charlotte for giving me the opportunity to lead and grow in my role as CCI's dean. Together, we have built on a shared legacy of excellence and assembled a team of leaders poised to shape what is next for UNC Charlotte, our region and beyond,” said Mili. “I came to CCI excited about its unique character and success. Today, almost five years later, I remain as excited as I was then and even more proud to have played a role in its growth and evolution."

Mili joined UNC Charlotte in August 2017. During her time here, Mili has partnered with other academic leaders to initiate several new degree programs, including creation of a computing Ph.D. track on design and computation in collaboration with the College of Arts + Architecture. She also was instrumental in the development of the transdisciplinary School of Data Science. She was named 2020 NCTech Tech Educator of the Year, and she received the 2022 Charlotte Business Journal Women in Business Award.

An interim dean for the College of Computing and Informatics will be named in the near future.
