Waterbean Coffee voted runner up favorite coffee place in CLT.

Congrats to Tony Vo '05 owner of Waterbean Coffee, recently voted runner up for Charlotte's Best Coffee Shop. With nine locations in Charlotte (and one in Vietnam), they serve up coffee and tea, plus five types of espresso, chia lattes, smoothies, sandwiches and pastries.

NC Governor Roy Cooper recently recognized Abi Olukeye, the tech-savvy founder of Smart Girls HQ for her critical work as a STEM leader during Black History Month.

Roy Cooper recently recognized Abi Olukeye, the tech-savvy founder of Smart Girls HQ for her critical work as a STEM leader during Black History Month. Headquartered in UNC Charlotte’s PORTAL building, Smart Girls offers STEM resources to a growing number of young women, along with internship opportunities to entrepreneurial students.

Master of Urban Design Director Sekou Cooke’s studio has been named a 2022 Emerging Voice by the Architectural League of New York, recognizing him for his urban design practice centered on contemporary design that embraces hip-hop culture.
