Charlotte Kids Fest returning to campus April 23
Charlotte Kids Fest returns to UNC Charlotte Saturday for the first in-person event since 2019. This free event, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 23, on the Charlotte Research Institute area of campus, will offer more than 50 unique experiences, encouraging children to engage in creative and informative activities and live performances.
Sponsored by Atrium Health University City, Duke Energy, Walmart and other businesses and organizations, Kids Fest is designed for children up to age 10, though all are welcome. The festival is centered around six activity zones:
- Learn – Focuses on reading, math, history, science and technology
- Discover – Focuses on performing and cultural arts
- Create – Focuses on arts and crafts
- Go – Focuses on exploring all things on wheels
- Play – Focuses on outdoor activities, exercise and healthy development
- Dance – Focuses on expression through musical performances and a DJ
Entertainment will includes robotics, magic, yoga, martial arts, music, dance, emergency and construction vehicle tours, storybook readings and live musical performances.

The festival will impact certain roads and Niner Transit stops.
Traffic and Niner Transit will resume normal operations Sunday, April 24.
