UNC Charlotte begins comprehensive classroom study
UNC Charlotte is engaging in a comprehensive classroom study to understand the current inventory of classroom and lab spaces on campus and identify future space needs. The SmithGroup, a national consulting firm, is guiding the University through the study process, which includes input from a wide array of stakeholders.
The University launched a classroom study survey Monday, Oct. 3. Faculty and students can participate in the survey through Friday, Oct. 21. The results will be used to shape the vision for future teaching and learning spaces at Charlotte.
Other stakeholder engagement events include focus groups and ongoing benchmarking with peer institutions. An educational adequacy assessment of 425 classrooms and labs to evaluate physical aspects that affect the effectiveness of learning environments was completed in June 2022, as part of the overall study.
Once information is gathered and analyzed, a 10-year implementation strategy will be developed to include short-term projects, renovation or relocation of existing space and options for future classrooms and labs.
