Charlotte’s spring 2023 crowdfunding lineup includes six student and faculty initiatives aimed at enhancing the Charlotte experience.
Charlotte’s Club Swim Team is a place for swimmers of all levels to practice and compete in the sport they love without the pressure and time commitment that comes with being on a collegiate varsity team. Ten Charlotte swimmers qualified for the College Club Swimming National Championships, being held March 31-April 2 at Ohio State University. Help them raise $5,000 to attend nationals!
SAFE is a peer mentoring program, housed within the Office of Identity, Equity and Engagement, to support the transition of first-year students to Charlotte. SAFE Voyage is a week-long program held the week before classes begin, allowing students to navigate campus and be introduced to academic and student support resources while networking with students, faculty and staff. Help raise $5,000 for SAFE Voyage.
The Design-Build-Fly Team of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Student Branch at UNC Charlotte is a new student organization. Members are designing, building and testing a radio-controlled aircraft to execute specific missions at the international DBF competition sponsored by the AIAA, Raytheon Technologies and Cessna. Help them raise $2,500 to compete at the international competition.
UNC Charlotte’s chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the English Honor Society, is celebrating its 40th year. The group sponsors social, intellectual and scholarly activities on campus. Five UNC Charlotte students will present at this year's Sigma Tau Delta conference in Denver, Colorado; their projects range from literary criticism to creative writing endeavors. Help them raise $3,000 to attend the conference.
The Yvette M. Huet Sí Se Puede Scholarship offers a unique opportunity to recognize the expanding potential of Latinx students in the region by awarding scholarships to qualified applicants dedicated to the growth, support and empowerment of Latinx communities. Named after Yvette M. Huet for her 30-plus years of leadership, camaraderie and dedication to the value of Latinx students in higher education, the scholarship is awarded to junior and senior undergraduate students. Help the Latinx/Hispanic Faculty and Staff Caucus raise $25,000 to endow this scholarship fund.
The Engineering Leadership Academy is a two-year, extra-curricular program that prepares undergraduate students to successfully fulfill leadership roles on campus and within the engineering industry by building their leadership abilities. Students in the program participate in capstone projects to help further the community. This year’s projects include building free little libraries, working with the Hollingsworth Foundation, creating a nature trail and constructing teaching tables at a local high school. Help them raise $5,000 to fund the capstone projects.
