Why did you choose UNC Charlotte?
I spent a lot of time on UNC Charlotte’s campus growing up. We used to come watch soccer games and attend events, but it was not until my sister came to school here in 2017 that I began thinking about college life. I would visit my sister on campus while I was in high school and fell in love with the campus. I knew that I wanted to come here from that moment on, and I am so glad I stuck to my gut. I have met, and continue to meet, so many people that have only solidified my decision of attending UNC Charlotte. From the educational, personal and professional opportunities that I have had, I am so grateful and happy I chose UNC Charlotte in the fall of 2019.
What clubs or activities are you involved in at UNC Charlotte?
I’m involved in Alpha Chi Omega Sorority and serve on the UNC Charlotte University Recreation Student Employee Advisory Council.
What is it like working on the “Amplify” campaign? Favorite part?
I loved working on the Amplify campaign, which was created to bring awareness to mental health services on campus while allowing students to build and maintain a healthy lifestyle. One of my favorite parts of this campaign is being able to see the impact I’ve made on students. I’ve loved every second of being a part of this campaign and it’s been the coolest experience seeing it come to life. When I was tasked with this campaign, I started writing what health and well-being was to me on a sticky note on the wall in a group fitness studio. Now, it has turned into launching a block party for over 5,000 students. It’s been the most rewarding experience. I’ve witnessed the impact it can make by promoting the resources and programs UNC Charlotte offers to support student wellbeing.
What are three words to describe UNC Charlotte?
Three words to describe UNC Charlotte are diverse, growth and innovative.
Where is your favorite place to eat on campus and what do you get?
I pretty much stick to Starbucks. I have one class in person right now. So, when I’m at work on campus, I will usually grab something quick from the market or Starbucks. I usually get an iced chai tea latte with sweet cream cold foam!
What advice would you give to a new student?
I would say that it doesn’t hurt to try, whether it be a club, sport or class. You never know what you like or what you are truly passionate about until you try. The worst that can happen is that you don’t like it, but you can still say you tried it. The best that can happen is you find something that you absolutely love.
What do you like to do when you are not studying?
I like to spend time with my friends and family, take pictures or just relax!
