Learn more about Sullivan, who lives in Denver, NC, including his time on the Voice, in this Q&A.
How old were you when you first got into music?
I started playing the piano when I was 4, but didn’t pick up the guitar until I was 23. Then the songwriting process unraveled for me as the guitar learning process progressed.
Tell us about your Voice blind audition.
I was on Season 19 of the Voice in fall 2020. I auditioned with “Operator” by Jim Croce. Blake Shelton turned his chair just as I hit the chorus and before I could finish the chorus, Gwen Stefani turned her chair. I joined team Blake. What can I say, he complimented me on my perfect pitch and storyteller vibe.
What artists have influenced your music?
My music is influenced by artists like Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, The Band and Grateful Dead. This is the type of music my dad listened to on the radio when he would drive us to school.
What do you like to do when you aren’t playing music?
I love spending time with my family, my wife Staci, and my sons, Boone and Hayes. I also love being outdoors boating, fishing and swimming. And I still love baseball. I spent my childhood and early adult life living and breathing baseball. I played throughout school and joined an independent professional baseball league as the closing pitcher after college.
