SACSCOC reaffirmation committee issues no recommendations during visit

The second stage of UNC Charlotte’s 10-year reaffirmation of accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges is complete. This follows a campus visit March 21-23 by the on-site reaffirmation committee.

After this multi-day visit, involving tours of facilities at the main campus, The Dubois Center at UNC Charlotte Center City and offsite teaching locations as well as interviews with dozens of faculty, staff, students and board members, the 10-person committee issued no recommendations to the University, the best possible outcome.

“This is a huge accomplishment for UNC Charlotte. I am grateful to the many staff and faculty who have worked tirelessly over the past several years on our reaffirmation process and this onsite visit,” said Chancellor Sharon L. Gaber. “The committee was complimentary of the University’s efforts in ensuring compliance with the SACSCOC standards and requirements and in the selection of our quality enhancement plan, NINERways, which focuses on math success for our students.”

Christine Robinson, assistant provost for institutional effectiveness and analytics, said the SACSCOC committee also noted the strong work the University has done to evolve to meet the needs of the fast-growing Charlotte region.

“We expect to receive the committee’s final written report in the next few weeks,” said Robinson, whose office oversees the University's accreditation efforts.

A final decision on the University’s reaffirmation of accreditation will be rendered by the SACSCOC Board of Trustees annual meeting in December 2023.
