Resources, growth are focus with Center for ADVANCing Faculty Success

The ADVANCE Faculty Affairs and Diversity Office is now the Center for ADVANCing Faculty Success. Additionally, Yvette M. Huet, professor of applied physiology, health, and clinical sciences and the office’s leader, has been elevated to the role of executive director to reflect her long-standing dedication to faculty success and evolved responsibilities.

“Yvette has been a champion for the development of her faculty colleagues at UNC Charlotte for nearly 20 years,” said Jennifer Troyer, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs. “She serves as a mentor, a sounding board and a guide for faculty through all phases of their academic careers and ensures they have the resources and growth opportunities they need to succeed. The shift in the focus of the office reflects the evolution of its work over many years of success and positions the team to continue to support our faculty and those who lead faculty across campus.”

Founded in 2006 as the UNC Charlotte ADVANCE Office, the office’s work was originally funded through a National Science Foundation Institutional Transformation Award with an overarching goal to increase the representation and advancement of women faculty, including women of color, in STEM disciplines. In 2013, the office shifted to the Division of Academic Affairs and became the ADVANCE Faculty Affairs and Diversity Office. Since that time, the office’s work has continued to update and expand programming to meet the needs of an evolving environment for faculty success.
