$150M and Counting

Thanks to the generosity of alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the University, EXPONENTIAL: The Campaign for UNC Charlotte recently surpassed the $150 million mark.

EXPONENTIAL is truly transforming UNC Charlotte by providing scholarships and resources to our students, research opportunities to our faculty and reaffirming our position as an economic engine for the Charlotte region,” said Gene Johnson (’73), chair of EXPONENTIAL: The Campaign for UNC Charlotte.

EXPONENTIAL, the largest campaign in the history of UNC Charlotte with a goal of $200 million, celebrates the dramatic growth of UNC Charlotte and its 130,000 alumni. The campaign focuses on four major pillars that support, promote and motivate student and faculty success: opportunity, resources, talent and impact. More than simply increasing student scholarships, improving the student experience, recruiting skilled faculty and supporting key programs, EXPONENTIAL offers everyone – alumni, business leaders and the University community – the chance to shape a future even more exciting than the University’s past.

“I encourage the UNC Charlotte community, as well as the greater Charlotte community, to invest in the future of the University and our region by supporting EXPONENTIAL and helping us reach our $200 million goal,” said Johnson (pictured). “UNC Charlotte is truly worthy of your philanthropic generosity.”

Since EXPONENTIAL launched as part of the University’s 70th anniversary on Sept. 22, 2016, 20,534 donors have made a total of 51,001 gifts and pledges and $3.8M has been awarded in scholarships. Faculty and staff (current and retired) have contributed $9.2 million to EXPONENTIAL.

With the recent addition of the Price Center for Counseling and Psychological Services, UNC Charlotte has a college, five buildings and a promenade on campus named for alumni, including the Hunter and Stephanie Edwards Promenade, Hauser Alumni Pavilion, Johnson Band Center, Jamil Niner Student Pantry, Karen A. Popp and Demond T. Martin Student Union and the Cato College of Education.
