Two Minutes with the 704 Shop

Have you seen this symbol around town and wondered what it is? It’s the brainchild of some of UNC Charlotte’s most innovative alums. Chris Moxley (2003), Jerri Shephard (2014) and Scott Wooten. The trio originally met as students at the University in the early 2000s and eventually brought Charlotte’s story to life through their fashion startup, 704 Shop.

We recently sat down with Scott and Chris to discuss the Queen City, their brand mission and UNC Charlotte.

704 Shop’s motto is “stay close to home,” and it has definitely gained traction. The most popular items celebrate the spirit of Charlotte; we’ve highlighted a few below.

704 Shop - Home T-shirt

Paying homage to the Queen city, this T-shirt remains one of the top sellers and is always in high demand.

704 Shop - Hornet T-shirt

As the Hornets’ season progressed, so did this shirt’s popularity.

704 Shop - Rail Trail T-shirt

A collaboration with Charlotte Center City Partners, this limited edition design will help fund future Rail Trail projects.

Although they don’t plan on operating a traditional storefront, the alums are frequent (and popular) vendors at regional pop-up events. 704 Shop’s newsletter will keep you up to date.
