Academic Year Closes with University, Individual Milestones
The end to a year of exceptional accomplishments is upon us. Some of these headline-making moments include the inaugural football season, completion of construction of the industry partnership powerhouse PORTAL and groundbreaking of the LYNX Blue Line light rail extension that will connect UNC Charlotte and the city like never before.
Chancellor Dubois Pays a Visit to Statesville
Chancellor Philip L. Dubois continued the effort to strengthen connections throughout the region by spending the day in Statesville on Wednesday, April 23, to speak with civic and business leaders. This trip to the Iredell County seat was the most recent stop in a series of visits to the 12 counties that comprise the greater Charlotte region.
Alumni Football Tailgate Packages Now Available
The second season of 49er football is now underway, and the Alumni Association’s tailgate packages for all home games are available for purchase, with single-game tailgate options also available. Tailgates are open to all alumni and friends of UNC Charlotte. Additionally, the colleges and affinity networks will have gatherings for their alumni throughout the season.
University Hosts Legislative Committee
Members of the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Information Technology were on campus recently to study issues related to technology in state government and important trends in the technology sector.
49ers Take Part in National Volunteer Week
UNC Charlotte demonstrated its commitment to Giving Green in the Community as more than 400 staff, students and alumni participated in service projectsduring National Volunteer Week, April 7-11.
Coordinated by the Community Relations Department in the Division for University Advancement, the projects involved volunteers helping at several local nonprofit agencies, including Second Harvest Food Bank, the Humane Society, Classroom Central, Crisis Assistance Ministry and the Safe Alliance Shelter for Women and the Carolina Thread Trail.
