Food security: Zolingo’s Spice for Life
Alonzo Hill is one of the community organizers leading an intervention effort in the community. Hill founded Zolingo’s Spice for Life with a mission to care for others following a Crohn’s disease diagnosis that changed the course of his life. After a near-death experience, Hill — a former engineer — took big steps to seek a healthier lifestyle, dedicating his life to becoming a health and nutrition specialist.

COVID-19 Information
COVID-19 mitigation testing
The University is continuing to conduct ongoing COVID-19 mitigation testing of unvaccinated nonresidential students, faculty and staff. If you have not scheduled your mitigation test for the current week, Oct. 3-8, please do so now. UNC Charlotte is covering the cost of on-campus mitigation testing. If you do not register for and participate in an on-campus test, you will need to submit an off-campus, negative test result, at your expense, by Friday, Oct. 8, at 11:59 p.m.

- Proposals for the 2022-23 Faculty Research Grants Program are due by 5 p.m., Monday, Oct. 18. As detailed in the guidelines, all proposal materials must be submitted through Niner Research and proposers are expected to follow Policy 20.2, which establishes milestones for the completion of the submission 10, five and two days prior to the deadline.

- UNC Charlotte is one of the sponsors of this year's Second Harvest Sort-A-Rama at the Charlotte Convention Center on Thursday, Oct. 14. Participants will assemble food boxes for Charlotte area families in need. If interested, please register by Thursday, Oct. 7. As a reminder, staff can utilize community service leave for this event.
