Immortalizing a culture in steel, glass and stone is no easy feat. Yet North Carolina architect Phil Freelon did just that. See how 22 students and two professors from the School of Architecture took on the even harder challenge of memorializing his work.

- Veterans Day is observed annually on Nov. 11. This year, UNC Charlotte is honoring fallen North Carolina service members through a Roll Call Ceremony Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 9 a.m. at Veterans Park, located beside Memorial Hall.
- Show your support of Venture Outdoor Leadership by making a gift in celebration of its 50th anniversary. Contributions will help update equipment and expand services to best equip them for another great 50 years!

Thanksgiving exit testing
Exit testing for the Thanksgiving holiday will be offered Monday, Nov. 15 through Friday, Nov. 19, and Monday, Nov. 22 through Wednesday, Nov. 24 at noon. You can register in advance. Walk-ins are accepted. All employees and students, regardless of vaccination status, are welcome to take part in exit testing.

- All LGBTQ+ identified staff and faculty members are invited to a virtual welcome and brainstorm session Tuesday, Nov. 16, at 4 p.m. This event is hosted by the LGBTQ+ Staff and Faculty Caucus to give people in this affinity group an opportunity to connect and determine interest in future endeavors and community building activities. Please join us, via Zoom, to get to know each other and share ideas.
- For Staff Only: The deadline to complete the Telework Survey is Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 5 p.m.
- Getting started with active teaching and learning. Active learning requires students to be engaged in their learning rather than being passive listeners. Learn strategies to promote active learning. This workshop on Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 11:30 a.m. counts towards the Essentials of Teaching and Learning Certificate.
- Learn more about UNC Charlotte's long history of Fulbright participation on Friday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m. Please register for the drop-in 60-minute virtual session at international@uncc.edu.

- 11/17: The UNC Charlotte Race and Social Equity Fall Forum, co-hosted by Atkins Library, is a panel discussion featuring local leaders who will share innovative strategies to eliminate the number of people who are unhoused. Attendees will learn how to support this population.
- 11/17: The Childress Klein Center for Real Estate presents the virtual 2021 State of Housing in Charlotte Summit.
- 11/18: The School of Architecture and the Harvey B. Gantt Center of African-American Art + Culture is presenting a panel discussion about the architect Phil Freelon.
