When Lauren Farmer is not in class or busy studying, she is extreme couponing. The senior chemistry, history and sociology major and math minor pairs coupons with weekly sales to save as much money as possible. With 50,000 TikTok followers, she's teaching others to save money, too.

- ICYMI: Last week, the North Carolina General Assembly and Gov. Roy Cooper approved the 2021-22 budget, which provides a historic $134 million investment in UNC Charlotte to fund STEM education growth and capital renovations. The approved budget also includes a 5% raise for our dedicated faculty and staff and bonuses for state employees, including University employees. FAQs about the state budget.

Thanksgiving update
Due to the shortened week for Thanksgiving, students, faculty and staff are not required to participate in mitigation testing this week, Nov. 22-26. Testing requirements will resume, as normal, Monday, Nov. 29.

- The State Health Plan will host webinars Wednesday, Dec. 1, and Tuesday, Dec. 7 on how to maximize your health plan options. The webinars, titled “Understanding Your Medical Plan Options When You Become Medicare-Eligible,” are designed primarily for retired members who are turning 65 in the next two years and for members older than 65 and still actively working.

- The introductory course UCOL 3401 is being offered this spring for talented undergraduate students who are interested in learning more about graduate education — especially underrepresented students with limited exposure to post-baccalaureate education.

- 12/1: Join us for free HIV testing, interactive HIV education activities and a campuswide social media campaign. This event is uniting students to raise awareness about HIV and reduce HIV stigma. Students will have the opportunity to win raffle prizes for their participation in event activities.
