- Jen Ames Stuart, clinical professor of marketing and associate dean of graduate and executive programs in the Belk College of Business, has been named Charlotte’s associate vice chancellor for university communications and chief communications officer effective Jan. 1, 2022. She has served in an interim capacity in this role since July 2021. As a member of the Chancellor’s Cabinet, Stuart will lead all aspects of the University’s communications and brand strategy.
- Volunteers are needed at Fall Commencement ceremonies Friday and Saturday, Dec. 17-18, to assist at the information tables and ticket office, pass out name cards to graduates and welcome guests. A volunteer orientation will be held Wednesday, Dec. 15. SHRA employees subject to the Fair Labor and Standards Act (FLSA) who are not normally scheduled for Friday or Saturday work are authorized to receive overtime compensation or compensatory time off if the hours worked for the week are sufficient to generate an overtime situation. Winter break exit testing
Exit testing for winter break will be offered Monday, Dec. 6, through Thursday, Dec. 16. Registration is available here using the mitigation testing form. All employees and students, regardless of vaccination status, are welcome to take part in this free exit testing.

Undergraduate research journal launches: The inaugural edition of The University of North Carolina at Charlotte Undergraduate Research Journal features the projects of eight faculty-undergrad researcher teams. The publication is helping to drive research as a central feature of the undergraduate experience.
MEDIA HIGHLIGHTS
UNC Charlotte joins 27 other colleges and universities across the country to help launch the first Institutional Capacity-Building Cohort, designed to help school leaders address students’ basic needs.
The National Institute of Minority Economic Development, an organization based in the PORTAL Building, helped kick start new businesses.

- 12/3: The School of Architecture hosts an exhibition reception for professor emeritus Michael Swisher's retrospective in Lambla Gallery.
- 12/3: “How to prepare content for people who are blind” is the fifth session of the Universal Design Fast Facts Series presented by the Office of Disability Services. This session defines blindness, explains how people who are low vision perceive information using assistive technology and explores how screen-readers work.
