YOUR DAILY NEED TO KNOW: FACULTY & STAFF

    • Suicide is a leading cause of death among American college and university students. The UNC Charlotte community must take an active role to destigmatize mental health issues and promote a culture of well-being. The Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) will offer training sessions for Mental Health First Aid, a national program to teach the skills to respond to the signs of mental illness and suicidal ideation.

Virtual training sessions for 30 participants are being offered Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 14-15, from 1:15 - 4:15 p.m. each day. Participants must complete a two-hour self-paced training in advance of attending the two virtual sessions to earn their certification.

To participate, register here. For questions email Sarah Besse, mental health educator and coordinator of suicide prevention, at sdewitt4@uncc.edu.
