Navigating the 'great resignation'

Managers are navigating the ripple effects of the pandemic in what has been called “The Great Resignation,” with workers leaving their jobs at a record rate in 2021. And based on Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) projections, this is unlikely to change in 2022. Belk College of Business professor Natasha Randle says it’s important for employers to focus on management fundamentals as record numbers of employees are quitting their jobs.

    YOUR DAILY NEED TO KNOW: FACULTY & STAFF

    • 49er Mart users are invited to attend the 49er Mart Virtual Forum Thursday, Jan. 27, from 2-4 p.m. Topics include updates on Contract+, new shopping experience (optional now but will be mandatory in March), information on establishing your email approval code and how to update and add default addresses. There will be time for questions and answers at the end of the forum. Registration is encouraged on the Learning and Development Portal, and more information can be found on the 49er Mart message board.
    • Reminder: Effective Jan. 3, all employees must be FULLY vaccinated based on current University definitions, which includes receiving a booster vaccine, to be approved for University-sponsored travel. Any upcoming travel already approved will be rescinded if this requirement is not met. More information is available on the travel website.
    • “Using the WAVE tool for website accessibility” is the sixth session of the Universal Design Fast Facts Series presented by the Office of Disability Services. This session defines WAVE and explains how to utilize it to evaluate website accessibility.

    • As a reminder, the second payment for the spring term is due Wednesday, Jan. 19. Students who have an account balance are encouraged to pay their account balance or enroll in a payment plan by the due date to avoid class cancellation.

    Track and field closes out Virginia Tech Invitational

    • Track and field closes out Virginia Tech Invitational: The Charlotte men's 200-meter race and men's high jump closed out the final day of the Virginia Tech Invitational, registering two strong showings by competitors Donny Lee and Shyhiem Scotland. Both athletes finished second overall in their respective events, earning a spot in Charlotte's Top-10 All-Time Indoor Performance List.
