Lorden and Gutierrez to receive emerita distinction
The Board of Trustees of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte has voted to bestow emerita status upon two long-serving faculty administrators. Joan F. Lorden, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs, and Nancy A. Gutierrez, dean, College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, were recommended for the distinction for their distinguished service to UNC Charlotte by Chancellor Sharon L. Gaber.

Mitigation Testing
The University is continuing to conduct ongoing COVID-19 mitigation testing for those who are vaccinated and eligible for a booster but have not received one, and for unvaccinated nonresidential students, faculty and staff. If you have not scheduled your mitigation test for the current week, Feb. 13-18, please do so now.

- Work toward racial equity with race consciousness conversations through the Office of Identity, Equity and Engagement. Come to the Popp Martin Student Union, Room 267, from 10 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, Feb. 22.
- Join Atkins Library, Souls’ Speak, the Black Alumni Chapter and the Nu Rho chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. Monday, Feb. 21, from 7 to 8 p.m. to read and discuss passages from Black literature, speeches and correspondence. Registration is required for this virtual event.
