Noble Niners, indeed. On Friday, April 1, the UNC Charlotte Alumni Association bestowed its 2020 and 2021 Alumni Awards to 15 impressive individuals for their service to the University.

  • Niner Nation is invited to participate in a campuswide service event Tuesday, April 19, between 12:30 and 4:30 p.m. in the food court of the Barnhardt Student Activity Center. Help "shape what's next" by assembling care packages for four local community partners: Niner University Elementary, Classroom Central, Crisis Assistance Ministry and Hope Vibes. Register now to participate.
  • Lee Rose, head coach of the Charlotte 49ers 1976 NIT Finals and 1977 NCAA Final Four teams, has died.

    • Shape what’s next for future 49ers! To inspire current Niners, all Class of 2022 gift campaign donations are being matched 3-to-1 and all other student gifts 2-to-1 by alumni couple Gene ’73 and Vickie ’71, ’82 Johnson during the 49 hours of #NinerNationGives. The Class of 2022 gift campaign supports three important funds making a difference in Niner lives today and tomorrow: the Mental Health Assistance Fund, Alumni Book Scholarship Fund and the Evergreen Scholarship Fund. Support the class gift campaign by Thursday, April 7, to take advantage of this match!
    • The Office of International Programs invites students to attend an International Career Panel Tuesday, April 12, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Gain insights from career professionals and the University Career Center on developing a plan of action for gaining employment in an international field.
    • Students graduating this May must submit their Commencement RSVPs by 11:59 p.m., today, to participate in their Commencement ceremony. Specific RSVP links have been sent to each student via their UNC Charlotte email. For additional information about the mandatory RSVP, please visit the Commencement website.

    EVENTS

    • 4/7: A “Cancel Culture on College Campuses” lecture will be held from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Popp Martin Student Union Theater. Nicole Ligon, supervising attorney for the First Amendment Clinic at Duke Law School, will consider ways viewpoint diversity impacts and benefits the classroom. The lecture is presented by the Legal Studies minor and the Center for Professional & Applied Ethics.
    • 4/12: Take Back the Night is a worldwide movement to raise awareness of sexual violence and inspire action to prevent all forms of interpersonal violence. UNC Charlotte will host a roundtable discussion and keynote address in the Cone University Center. Sign up to attend.
