Education professor awarded $1 million NSF Grant for pioneering research supporting gifted Black girls

Brittany Anderson, assistant professor of urban education in the Cato College of Education, received a $1,062,034 grant from the National Science Foundation for her pioneering research on gifted Black girls with science, technology, engineering and math talent in elementary schools across the country.

    • UNC Charlotte is encouraging employees to receive their booster with an additional eight hours of paid leave. Eligible employees who receive their first booster on or before Aug. 31, 2022, will receive the leave. More information can be found on the COVID-19 HR Information website.
    • 49er Mart users are invited to the 49er Mart Virtual Forum Thursday, June 23, from 2 to 4 p.m. Topics will include Contracts+ update, TSM updates, ordering in the new year, searching for items and best practices, changing the purchase order owner, deleting draft carts and draft receipts. There will be time for questions at the end of the forum. Registration is encouraged on the Learning and Development Portal, and more information can be found on the 49er Mart message board.
    • UNC Charlotte electronic systems and services, including Banner Self-Service and NinerNET password management services, will be offline for planned maintenance Saturday, June 18, from 7 a.m. to noon.
    • OneIT will perform extended maintenance from 5 p.m., Friday, July 1, through 9 a.m., Saturday, July 2. During this time, building switches, routers and storage will be upgraded. This work should not impact customers. OneIT will conduct disaster recovery testing Friday, July 1, from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. Users will be unable to access the main website as well as most campus web services and systems including my.charlotte.edu, Canvas, Gmail, GCal, Google Drive, the VPN and Zoom. Phone services will not be affected.
