Gold Rush starts Friday
August is here and with it comes UNC Charlotte’s welcome program: Gold Rush, which begins Friday, Aug. 19, and runs through Monday, Aug. 29.
NEWS
- Courtney Green and Moinul Hossain received the Graduate Dean’s Distinguished Dissertation Award.
- Several important updates to Niner Transit service have been made for the fall semester. The Niner Transit Gold Route will be temporarily unavailable. Silver and Green Routes will run Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to midnight, and Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to midnight. The Purple Route will provide service to students living in HRL campus housing at off-campus locations. Learn more about transportation and parking changes.
- New Student Convocation is at 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 21, in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center. Learn more about this signature Charlotte tradition for incoming first-year and transfer students.

- Aren't able to make it to University Convocation in person tomorrow? We will be live streaming the program at livestream.charlotte.edu, starting at 9:30 a.m.
- Family and Medical Leave Act reminder: Employees who are out of work due to a serious health condition or who need to care for a family member with a serious health condition may qualify for FMLA. Reference the FMLA webpage for more details.
- A reminder: 49er Mart users are invited to attend the 49er Mart Virtual Forum from 2 to 4 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 18. Registration is encouraged on the Learning and Development Portal, and more information is on the 49er Mart message board.
- Apporto is offering virtual desktop training to faculty from 1 to 2 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 23. Led by Max Lushchan, director of customer success at Apporto, this interactive training session will help you get off to a strong start this fall. If you can’t attend, here’s a training video. Every August, University Recreation (UREC) hosts RecFest, which is designed to introduce students to the programs and services offered by the department. It also is an opportunity to meet campus partners, learn about student organizations and taste local cuisine. This is a must to kick off the new academic year. Come early and bring your valid UNC Charlotte ID.
