Transformational Gift to Support Teacher Literacy Education
This morning, Chancellor Gaber is announcing one of the largest gifts in UNC Charlotte history, up to $23 million from the Mebane Foundation. Over the next five years, the transformative investment will allow the Cato College of Education to greatly expand its early literacy teacher development, community engagement and research.

Celebrating Good News
- Two current UNC Charlotte students and two alumni have received a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program award.
- Four UNC Charlotte students are the recipients of nationally competitive awards.
- Rob Keynton, dean of the William States Lee College of Engineering, recently attended a briefing at the White House to discuss Hispanic representation in STEM.
- Several Niners were named to the 2023 Business NC Power List.
- Hannah Partridge, a doctoral student, and other faculty, staff and students have installed a bird safe window at Atkins Library to reduce bird-glass collisions.
- Fourteen students were recognized at a recent honors and awards ceremony led by Leadership and Community Engagement.
- NSF grant will enable professors and students to research climate-resilient architecture in Tanzania.
