Commencement is here! We are excited to welcome more than 4,900 graduates into the UNC Charlotte alumni network. More than 5,300 degrees and graduate certificates will be awarded during the four ceremonies in Halton Arena on Friday, May 12, and Saturday May 13.

Turning a Fascination into a Career
Since childhood, Dené Logan has been fascinated with computers, building websites and blogs. In fact, she spent hours creating layouts for her Xanga blog without realizing she was actually “coding.” Today, her hard work and determination is paying off as her fascination becomes her career.
Santa Earns Doctorate from UNC Charlotte
From January to mid-December, Santa Claus traditionally fills his time preparing for the holiday season. Making gifts, checking lists and … earning a Ph.D.? Titus Hopper, career readiness coordinator for Cleveland County Schools, spends his days encouraging students to stay engaged with school and his evenings taking classes as part of his doctoral program.
A Calling Fulfilled: Math Professor Kim Harris Participates in Her Final Charlotte Commencement
Faculty members as they watch their students graduate — or embark on their own new adventures — can be filled with emotion. This is the case for Kim Harris, an associate professor of mathematics education, who will retire from Charlotte at the end of the academic year after 39 years.
Spring Bell Ringers Highlight Four Decorated Women from UNC Charlotte
The bell ringer performs the long-standing tradition of ringing the Charlotte “victory bell,” which was gifted to Miss Bonnie Cone when Charlotte College moved from its old site at Central High School to the current UNC Charlotte location. Students chosen as bell ringers have demonstrated exemplary 49er spirit within organizations, volunteerism or service to others.
