Jennifer Troyer Appointed Interim Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs

 

Jennifer L. Troyer, dean of the Belk College of Business at UNC Charlotte and professor of economics, has been appointed interim provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs. Her appointment is effective immediately and will continue until the position is filled permanently.

FACULTY & STAFF ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Tao-Hsien “Dolly” King, Rush S. Dickson Professor of Finance, will step in as interim dean of the Belk College of Business during Jennifer L. Troyer’s appointment as interim provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs. Both appointments are effective immediately.
  • Explore the new 2023-24 undergraduate and graduate catalogs, which are now available online, along with other important updates in this week’s Academic Affairs Weekly News Digest.
  • The School of Professional Studies is accepting applications for its new professional certificate on Generative AI, designed to make you AI-ready for next-generation learning. 
  • Katie Kelley named OneIT assistant vice chancellor for enterprise applications.
  • On weekdays starting June 12 through Aug. 11, expect a higher volume of traffic in Parking Lots 16 and 16A as participants for Camps on Campus will be dropped off between 7:30 and 8:45 a.m. and picked up from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. Craver Road, Cameron Boulevard and Poplar Terrace Drive are expected to be affected by increased traffic.
  • Transact, the software for 49er ID, will be upgraded Wednesday, June 7, between 1 and 8 a.m. During this time, deposits to campus spending accounts, 49er Mobile ID provisioning, print services, mail and package smart lockers and online photo submission will be unavailable.
  • Attend a Mental Health First Aid training, a national program that teaches how to respond to someone struggling with distress or suicide ideation. Register for in-person faculty and staff training scheduled for Tuesday, June 13, and Wednesday, June 14.
  • The Red Cross and UNC Charlotte will sponsor the Summer Blood Drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, in the Cone University Center, Lucas Room. Make your appointment now

  • Free days at Charlotte Museums: Starting in June, several museums across Charlotte are offering free admissions. Mint Museum of Art is free Wednesdays from 5 to 9 p.m. Art after Dark, hosted by the Harvey B. Gantt Center, and the Bechtler Museum offers free admission on Wednesday evenings. There are also special promotions for kids and teens. Visit Charlotte On The Cheap for detailed information on participating museums and free days to visit.
  • Niner Finances has published its “Savvy Swaps,” which are quick, easy and smart substitutions intended to save money.
