More than a decade ago, well before coronavirus became a household word, Associate Professor of Architecture Jefferson Ellinger began using his design expertise to improve air quality.

• Learn how Atkins Library is celebrating Open Access Week, along with other important updates in this week’s Academic Affairs Weekly News Digest.
• Final call to register for the “Collaboration in Action: Engaged Scholarship and Student Impact Symposium.” The deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 24.
• 49er Mart users are invited to attend a virtual forum from 2 to 4 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 26. Registration is encouraged on the Learning and Development Portal, and more information on the topics that will be discussed can be found on the 49er Mart message board.
• UNC Charlotte and East Carolina students were recognized at the 49ers football game Saturday for completing their Run the Ball journey between the two universities. Supporters can still donate to help Charlotte students facing mental health struggles.
• Do your part to mitigate the spread of the flu and COVID-19 viruses by getting vaccinated. The next flu shot and COVID vaccine clinic is Thursday, Oct. 26, at the Barnhardt Student Activity Center.
