Joyce Davis Waddell Center for Student Health and Wellbeing Named
A Student Wellness Support Fund, made possible through a personal gift from alumna, educator and public servant Joyce Davis Waddell ’73, will be established in the Division of Student Affairs.
FACULTY & STAFF ANNOUNCEMENTS
- Christine Reed Davis, dean of students and associate vice chancellor for student affairs with over 25 years at UNC Charlotte, will leave to assume the role of vice chancellor for student affairs at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Her last day at Charlotte is Dec. 15.
- This week is Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. This annual program draws attention to the problems of hunger and homelessness in advance of Giving Tuesday, where the University’s efforts focus on food insecurity and supporting the Jamil Niner Food Pantry.
- Reminder: The campus conversation around economic mobility with Raj Chetty, William A. Ackman Professor of Economics at Harvard University and director of Opportunity Insights, is at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 14, in the Popp Martin Student Union.
- Headspace Care shares resources for World Kindness Day.
- Nominate a faculty or staff member for the Dubois Award for Accessibility Improvement, which recognizes outstanding faculty or staff outside the field of disability services who demonstrate exemplary support of or work in accessibility within Charlotte’s campus community. Nominations are due Friday, Nov. 17.
- The Center for Teaching and Learning is seeking a faculty member specializing in applying artificial intelligence in teaching and learning to serve as a faculty fellow on generative AI.

- Swipe Out Hunger is a nationwide program that partners with colleges to help end student hunger and assist those who struggle with food insecurity. Donate your meal swipes at tables outside of SoVi and Social 704 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. all week to fight hunger on campus.
- Women of Color Conversations is an opportunity to create and strengthen connections for female students of color at UNC Charlotte. WOCC meets monthly on Wednesday evenings in Popp Martin Student Union, Room 262, with the next meeting Nov. 15.

Five Charlotte men’s soccer players were selected for 2023 All-American Conference teams as announced by the league Wednesday, Nov. 8; men’s soccer won the American Conference yesterday.
