Deans named for the College of Arts + Architecture and university college
José Gámez has been appointed dean of the College of Arts + Architecture, and Teresa Petty has been appointed associate provost for undergraduate education and dean of University College. Both appointments are effective July 1.
FACULTY & STAFF ANNOUNCEMENTS
- Two weeks remain to submit your session proposals for the second AI Institute for Smarter Learning Wednesday, May 15. Please submit proposals by 11:59 p.m., Friday, March 8.
- The School of Data Science is hosting its annual Women in Data Science Conference Thursday, March 21, at the UNC Charlotte Marriott Hotel & Conference Center. This free event will feature female speakers across the data science industry and a career fair during lunch. All students and faculty are welcome to attend.
- If your campus unit intends to print more than 200 copies of an annual report or any other newsletter, magazine or marketing materials using state funds this spring, please review this memo from the Office of Legal Affairs.
- The Graduate School’s Summer Fellowship Program is a competitive initiative that provides doctoral students funding to continue research. Selected applicants can receive $8,000 to support progress toward their degree. The application deadline is Friday, March 1.
- The Office of International Programs invites faculty to apply for the Global Learning and Internationalization Institute, Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17.
- Atkins Library received the 2024 Library Excellence in Access and Diversity Award from Insight Into Diversity magazine.
- The University Police and Public Safety Department encourages Hyundai automobile owners to learn more about using anti-theft technology to secure their vehicles during a CMPD-sponsored informational event Feb. 23-24 at PNC Pavilion. This Charlotte Anti-theft Mobile Clinic will be from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday and Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday.
