FACULTY & STAFF ANNOUNCEMENTS
- Reminder: The public presentation for the first finalist for the founding dean of the College of Humanities & Earth and Social Sciences is from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m., today, Thursday, March. 14, in the Popp Martin Student Union Movie Theater.
- Attend an information session on Monday, March 18, or Wednesday, March 20, to learn about the proposed open-access policy for preserving faculty journal scholarship.
- Join the North Carolina Office of State Human Resources Statewide Wellness Program at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 19, for a webinar on the importance of fiber, followed by a cooking demonstration.
- Sign up to volunteer or be an exhibitor for the UNC Charlotte STEAM Expo on main campus from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, April 14. This year’s expo will happen in tandem with Charlotte Kids Fest!
- Register by Monday, April 1, to play in the 46th annual Charlotte 49er Club Golf Outing at Cabarrus Country Club, Monday, June 3. Proceeds from the event support the Charlotte 49ers Athletic Scholarship Fund.
- RSVP to attend the free 2024 AI Institute for Smarter Learning Wednesday, May 15, to learn how your colleagues are using generative AI. Registration closes Monday, April 15.
STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS
- Summer term registration opens Monday, April 1. Classes begin Monday, May 20, for first-half and first term and Monday, July 1, for second term. View course schedules, calendars and other details.
- The commencement bell ringer is an honorable tradition that recognizes students who have demonstrated exemplary 49er spirit. Applications to become a spring 2024 bell ringer close at 11:45 p.m., Sunday, March 17.
- The University Honors and Awards Ceremony celebrates a select group of students who made outstanding contributions to Charlotte throughout the year. The deadline for students to apply for the awards is Sunday, March 17.
- Join the Pride of Niner Nation Marching band for 2024-25, the 10th anniversary season! Fill out the interest form to receive more information.
- What do fingerpainting, the world’s seventh-busiest airport and UNC Charlotte all have in common? Find the answer in the EPIC lobby, take a selfie and submit it to ninerinsider@charlotte.edu.
- Support student crowdfunding projects this spring.
- Beginning in June, Atkins Library will undergo significant renovations to enhance the safety and comfort of students, faculty, staff, alumni, retired employees and friends of the University.
ATTEND AN UPCOMING EVENT
- Participate in the Center for Wellness Promotion’s very first Green Dot Week, March 18-21, which will include interactive events designed to inspire you to take action and prevent interpersonal violence.
- What does home mean to you? Is it a place, feeling, people? Join in a meaningful conversation about the concept of home from 4 to 5 p.m., Wednesday, March 20, in Atkins Library, Halton Reading Room.
- Atkins Library and Niner Times are co-hosting the inaugural Media Literacy Matters Conference Thursday, March 21, to bring faculty, students and researchers across campus together to discuss issues related to media literacy.
- QPR is a 90-minute training intended to foster a community of care by teaching individuals to recognize the warning signs of suicide including verbal, behavioral and situational clues. The next training for students is virtual from noon to 1:30 p.m., Thursday, March 21.
- Celebrate student entrepreneurs at the 49er Impact Pitch Finals Wednesday, March 27, at The Dubois Center at UNC Charlotte Center City. This is a great opportunity to network with other students, community and university leaders and vote on your favorite idea. The first 50 students who check in will be eligible for a gift card raffle. Register today!
