$10 million gift to help transform the Charlotte student experience
A $10 million gift from an anonymous donor will fund the construction of a three-acre outdoor complex on UNC Charlotte’s campus to provide year-round opportunities for informal and organized student gatherings, including tailgating prior to Charlotte 49ers football games.

YOUR DAILY NEED TO KNOW: FACULTY & STAFF
- In the “Creating Videos in Canvas” workshop Thursday, Feb. 3, learn to use Kaltura CaptureSpace to add powerful media tools to Canvas and combine the best features of video sharing, webcam recording, screen recording and more. Creating and sharing multimedia learning content is easier than ever using these intuitive tools.
- Employees who are planning or considering retirement within the next year are encouraged to sign up for the “Retirement: Ready, Set, Go!” workshop at 9 a.m., Wednesday, March 9. A second session is scheduled for 9 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 4.
- EHS maintains the annual summary of employee injuries and illnesses. Recordable cases for UNC Charlotte employees for 2021 can be reviewed on the OSHA Form 300A.

- The Graduate Information Session is designed for prospective students starting an application and individuals who have an application in process. It will provide a general overview about admission requirements, application process and include valuable information about standardized test requirements, funding opportunities and financial aid.

Professor wins competition to author next ‘Pamphlet Architecture’: Catty Dan Zhang, assistant professor of architecture, has won first prize in the “Pamphlet Architecture” international competition. She will receive a $5,500 honorarium to develop her proposal and the opportunity to produce the next book in the “Pamphlet Architecture” series.
MEDIA HIGHLIGHTS
Dylan Savage, professor of piano, was the featured guest in Episode 122 of the podcast, “Enhance Life with Music,” which aired on Jan. 25.
QM Power has strengthened its partnership with UNC Charlotte, allowing the company to continue development of energy-efficient motors and controls.
EVENTS
- 2/2: Andrew Hartley, Robinson Distinguished Professor of Shakespeare, launches the project “Shakespeare and Inclusivity.” This semester-long case-study of “The Merchant of Venice” will include a public lecture.
