Some campus telephones experiencing outages
OneIT has received numerous reports that on-campus Cisco phones are not receiving off-campus calls. This includes calls from the cell phones of on-campus students and employees. Weiter Appointed Interim Dean of Atkins Library
Stephen P. Weiter has been retained as interim dean of the J. Murrey Atkins Library at UNC Charlotte effective Jan. 1, 2024, until a permanent dean is hired to succeed Anne Cooper Moore, who will retire Dec. 31. Weiter will be assisting and consulting with Moore in December to help facilitate a smooth transition.
UCAE to launch accountability groups pilot program
The University Center for Academic Excellence is creating a pilot program for the spring 2024 semester called accountability groups, which will offer Charlotte students structured individual work time.
Accountability groups, facilitated by student leaders, will meet weekly for 90 minutes during the semester. These groups are designed to help members learn and practice productive study habits, connect with peers and provide dedicated time to work on individual tasks.

FM’s Fatou Mboyo has died
Fatou Mboyo, a member of the Building Environmental Services and Recycling unit in the Facilities Management since May 2012, died Nov. 18.
Tasheem Hayes, associate director for FM’s Building Environmental Services and Recycling unit, stated, “Fatou was always willing to go the extra mile and provide service with a smile and was a pleasure to work with. I ask that prayers be sent out for her husband, Fresnel Nkosi, who also is a proud member of facilities management.”

The Staff Council’s Events and Education Committee is holding a craft-making session to benefit Operation Child and local nursing homes from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 6, in the Cone University Center, Room 112.

Erica Solosky is an associate general counsel in the Office of Legal Affairs and the director of ethics, policy and compliance. Her journey to UNC Charlotte is not a typical one – she is also a veteran who began her career as a Judge Advocate in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps.
