Alexa Schoubert is a senior, majoring in communications with a concentration in public relations and a minor in American studies. After seeing her sister graduate from UNC Charlotte in 2021, Schoubert decided to make her mark, earning awards, such as the Chancellor’s and Dean’s list; being a crucial part of the “Amplify” campaign; and joining clubs and student council to bring positive change to the University. Meet a Niner: Maliah Graves

Maliah Graves, a senior marketing analytics major and biology minor, serves as president of the Black Student Union. She recently received the Who’s Who Among Students at UNC Charlotte recognition. Grave is also a legacy student as her grandfather, Leroy Waters, received a master’s degree in education from the University in 1981 and her sister, Adrianna Graves, received a bachelor’s degree in computer science in 2018. The Dean of Students Office is seeking nominations for the following awards: Bonnie Cone Leadership Award, Noble Niner Award, Chuck Lynch Award, Derrick Griffith Servant Leader Award and the Chancellor’s Citations for Leadership and Service.

These honors recognize students who have made significant contributions to UNC Charlotte during their undergraduate careers and are given annually to graduating seniors who have shown outstanding qualities of scholarship and leadership.

Applications for bell ringers for 2023 Spring Commencement are being accepted by the Dean of Students Office. Faculty and staff should encourage graduating students to apply for this prestigious honor.

Bell ringer is a tradition that recognizes outstanding student leaders who have demonstrated exemplary 49er spirit. All applicants must have a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA and be in good disciplinary standing. Applications, which require a resume and personal statement, are due by 11:45 p.m., Sunday, March 19.
