Eleven Niners Honored in CBJ Power 100

Eleven UNC Charlotte faculty and alumni have been named to the 2024 Charlotte Business Journal Power 100. The list, which celebrates innovators in the Charlotte region, includes Chancellor Sharon L. Gaber; Malcolm Butler, dean, Cato College of Education; Sharon Jones, adjunct faculty member and founder and CEO of the dot; and Bojan Cukic, dean, College of Computing and Informatics.

  • Open Enrollment Info: Open Enrollment begins Monday, Sept. 30, and continues through Friday, Oct. 25. Review expectations and upcoming changes to ensure you are prepared for the 2025 plan year.
  • Nominate Emerging Leaders: Know a first-time, first-year student who is committed to campus involvement and interested in developing their leadership skills while making new friends? Faculty and staff members are encouraged to nominate students for Emerging Leaders! Complete this form by Friday, Sept. 20; contact Mikala Harvey with any questions.
  • Virtual Town Halls: Register for two virtual town halls: “Guidelines for Free Expression on Campus,” at 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 20, and “Understanding the System’s new Equality Policy,” at 2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 23. The events are presented in partnership with the Divisions of Institutional Integrity, Academic Affairs and Student Affairs and the Office of Safety and Security.

  • The Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation’s fall 2024 Golden Hack: Impact Weekend is set for Friday, Oct. 18, through Sunday, Oct. 20, in the PORTAL Building. During this weekend, students from all majors, backgrounds and levels of experience come together for a common focus — to learn, brainstorm and share ideas and creations. Complete the interest form if you have a topic students can work on during the event or if you want to get involved and volunteer.

Want to drive change on campus? Join the Office of Sustainability and representatives from the Student Government Association for the Student Sustainability Summit, scheduled for 5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 3, in Cone University Center, Lucas Room.

  • Reminder: The 2024 International Festival is 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 21, in and around the Barnhardt Student Activity Center; check out the schedule of events and bring a friend!
  • Notice: Please avoid skateboarding, rollerblading or using other devices on campus fixtures such as walls, rails and benches. This is dangerous and causes damage to campus.
  • Training Opportunity: Attend a Green Dot Training from 5 to 6 p.m., Monday, Oct. 7, to learn to recognize, react and prevent interpersonal violence at Charlotte.
  • Mailing Tips for Students: Learn to ensure your mail and packages arrive safely to campus.

  • Por la Cultura: Join the UNC Charlotte Latinx/a/o Alumni Network for Por la Cultura Night at Charlotte FC Saturday, Sept. 21, at Bank of America Stadium, as part of Hispanic Heritage Month.
  • PT Job Fair: The Fall Part-Time Job Fair is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 2. This is the last Career Center-sponsored fair of the semester; don’t miss out.
