Charlotte’s Zero-waste Playbook

Do you know what happens to nearly 3,000 pounds of waste generated from each Charlotte football game? Thanks to zero waste, a program that Charlotte executes better than most campuses in the nation, over 80% is reused and recycled.

  • Strategic Plan Update: Niner Nation has made tremendous progress on its strategic plan, including being named an R1 research university much sooner than anticipated, and already meeting or surpassing four of the 10-year metric goals. A refresh is underway.
  • Personnel Changes: UNC Charlotte has announced interim leadership appointments in athletics and institutional Integrity.
  • Tuition and Fees Meetings: Hear recommendations for changes to tuition and mandatory student fees during the Tuition and Fees Advisory Board open meeting at 5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 23, at the Harris Alumni Center. A second meeting will be held at 6 p.m., Monday, Nov. 3, in the Popp Martin Student Union, Room 340, and will include an opportunity for public comments.
  • Local Election Season: The polls are open for early voting in Mecklenburg County. Get involved in this election season by researching candidate platforms, discussing the issues, volunteering to support get-out-the-vote efforts or voting in this year’s local elections.
  • New Soccer Coach: Sinead Byrne has been named the sixth head coach of the women’s soccer team, after serving as interim head coach since April 2025.
