The 2026‑27 academic year is off to a strong start, and campus is buzzing with new energy. This fall, we welcomed 5,100 first‑year students from 97 North Carolina counties, 40 states and 24 countries, along with nearly 3,000 new transfer students who are now part of Niner Nation.

Introducing the Charlotte Student Resource Hub
At UNC Charlotte, your success drives everything we do. The new student resource hub — created from a student suggestion during Lunch with Chancellor Gaber — brings together the resources you need to thrive.
Whether you’re finding your first classroom, registering for courses, seeking support or preparing for graduation, the hub connects you with the resources you need to navigate your Charlotte experience. Built by students for students, the hub is your starting point as you learn, connect and grow as a Niner.
what’s new?
Wheels‑free zone: Starting this fall, central campus is a pedestrian‑only area, with scooters, bicycles and other wheeled devices prohibited to enhance safety and create a more walkable experience for Niners.
Back to School Bash: Kick off the semester at the Back to School Bash from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 26, at the Harris Alumni Center. Join the Future Alumni Network for free food, a live DJ, exciting prizes and plenty of fun activities.
New dining option: Half Moon Empanadas is serving up sweet and savory baked empanadas in the Popp Martin Student Union.
Pickaxe Express: If you’re picking up textbooks in person from Barnes & Noble Charlotte this fall, you can skip the line by reserving a pick-up time.
Gold Rush events: Don’t miss the Gold Rush events happening now through Friday, Sept. 4. All events are free for students and are hosted by campus departments and student organizations.
Campus improvements: Facilities Management completed a wide range of projects this summer to prepare campus for the academic year, focusing on mobility, infrastructure, building upgrades and new construction.

Niner Course Pack: The Niner Course Pack is an all-in-one textbook rental program, costing $20 per credit hour. Most students are automatically enrolled; Friday, Aug. 28, is the last day to opt out for fall.
Parking permits: Learn about parking permit options or buy a permit at mypark.charlotte.edu.
Building access reminder: Familiarize yourself with the University building access schedules to know when you may need to use your 49er ID card to access buildings across campus.
49er Mobile ID: Your 49er Mobile ID is your key to campus. Set up your 49er Mobile ID by downloading the Transact eAccounts app and following these installation instructions.
NinerReady: It takes all of us to keep campus safe. Make sure you are prepared by becoming NinerReady and reviewing the classroom safety toolkit.
Active assailant response training: All students are required to complete online active assailant response training, specific to our campus, which takes less than 10 minutes to complete. Additional training sessions will be required throughout the year. Check your email for the training link.

CATS-Pass app: The CATS All-Access Pass gives you unlimited free rides on LYNX light rail and Charlotte city buses. Download the CATS-Pass app and create an account with your Charlotte email.
