Staff Council recognizes past presidents
The UNC Charlotte Staff Council has been part of University governance since 1976. To acknowledge the former council leaders, the 2014-15 Staff Council commissioned a plaque to honor them for “their generosity, support and guidance to our campus.”
The plaque was unveiled during a luncheon today, held as part of the annual Staff Council retreat at the Harris Alumni Center.
Former presidents Margo Gross, research and economic development; Jim Hoppa, Student Union, activities and recreation; Jeanne Madorin, human resources; and Angela Williams, English; attended the unveiling along with retirees Barbara Greene, HR; and Ira Myers, CLAS; and current Staff Council Chair Jim Kay.
Plans are for the plaque to hang in Cato Hall.
In 2014, Chancellor Philip L. Dubois approved a change to the council bylaws to alter the office titles and to allow for two-year terms for chair and vice chair. The council enacted the changes effective with the 2014-15 fiscal year.
The Staff Council was established to create and provide a more harmonious working environment for the staff of UNC Charlotte. It has been delegated, by the chancellor, the authority and responsibility to bring to the attention of the administration matters of general staff concern and to take such actions as are necessary to enable it to meet those responsibilities.
