  • AED/CPR Awareness: Register for the annual AED/CPR Awareness Event hosted by the Office of Environmental Health and Safety from 10 to 10:45 a.m. or 11 to 11:45 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 3.

  • The 2024 International Festival, UNC Charlotte’s longest-running cultural event, is set for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 21, in and around the Barnhardt Student Activity Center. This year’s festival is also part of the Charlotte International Arts Festival as a cultural partner; the Dutch group, “the Birdmen,” larger-than-life Dutch puppets, will perform at 3 p.m.

  • Reminder: Adobe will discontinue the Creative Cloud desktop synchronization service, along with the folder and file-sharing capabilities of synced files. Files in your local Creative Cloud Files folder will no longer be copied to cloud storage, and Adobe will permanently remove the cloud-based copies of files for users. Read more additional details and recommended actions.
  • Instructor-Led Training: If you are interested in providing instructor-led training (virtual and in person) in the Learning and Development Portal, please fill out this Google Form; learn more about the portal.
  • Course Proposals: Are you interested in submitting a proposal to teach a course for the Honors College? Course proposals are being accepted for summer and fall 2025 and spring 2026. Proposals are due Friday, Oct. 11. Direct questions to Cindy Gilson, associate dean of the Honors College.
  • Webinar: Sign up for the Friday, Sept. 20, webinar “Learning Technology and Open Education: Opportunities to Engage across the UNC System.”
  • Football Tailgating: Niner fans looking to enjoy all that campus has to offer on game day will get an extra four hours to do so as tailgating will now begin eight hours prior to kick off for the remaining home games on Charlotte’s 2024 football schedule.
  • Applications Open: Apply for scholarships to attend the Leadership Development Program offered through the Center for Creative Leadership. The application deadline is Monday, Oct. 7.
  • Media Literacy Exchange: The Critical Media Literacy Collaborative is planning a literacy exchange for faculty involved in media literacy initiatives, classes and research from 1 to 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 7, in Atkins Library, Halton Reading Room.

The 2024 election season is underway. For the UNC Charlotte community, the 49er Democracy Experience offers a dynamic, nonpartisan platform for learning about and engaging in civic life. The 49er Democracy Experience involves students in local, state and national elections through voter registration, voter education and voter mobilization.

What you Need to know: Students

  • Applications for the Niner 9, nine students who exemplify the values and spirit of Niner Nation, are due by 11:59 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 22. The Golden Niner will be announced at the Homecoming game on Saturday, Nov. 16!
  • Register for the annual AED/CPR Awareness Event hosted by the Office of Environmental Health and Safety from 10 to 10:45 a.m. or 11 to 11:45 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 3.

  • The commencement bell ringer is an honorable tradition that recognizes students who have demonstrated exemplary 49er spirit. Applications to be a fall 2024 bell ringer will be accepted through 11:45 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 13.

  • The Black Alumni Chapter, Latinx/a/o Alumni Network and LGBTQIA+ Alumni Network invite all students to an unforgettable “Welcome Back” event from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 26, at the Hauser Alumni Pavilion. Enjoy food, music, dancing and games.
  • The Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation will host a Golden Hack: Impact Weekend, Oct 18-20. Students will work in a collaborative environment to design, develop and pitch ideas that solve real-world problems. This is an opportunity for students to expand their skill sets while challenging themselves in their areas of interest and networking with UNC Charlotte faculty, industry leaders and community founders.

UNC Charlotte dedicated a new space for the creation and celebration of the arts and culture Thursday, Sept. 12. A gift to the University from J.S. Helms Family Properties, the Sue Lemmond Helms Community Art House honors its namesake, a lifelong artist and arts educator.
