Early Voting Begins Today, UNC Charlotte is an Early Voting Site

Early voting for the Nov. 5 election begins today and runs through Saturday, Nov. 2. The Cone University Center, Room 112, is an early voting site for students, faculty, staff and the general public who reside in Mecklenburg County.

  • The Experience of an Election Worker: Honors College Administrative Support Associate Colette Chenault has worked elections in multiple capacities since 2016. She shares what it’s like to work on election day.
  • 2024 Election Guide: Check out the Election 2024 Guide, created by the Digital Media Literacy Group in Atkins Library, for resources to help you participate in this year’s election.

  • Open Enrollment: Don’t forget to make your 2025 plan year elections before Open Enrollment ends. Remember to re-enroll in flexible spending accounts if you want to use that benefit next year.
  • Campus Master Plan Community Forum: The Charlotte community is invited to attend the final presentation of the campus master plan from 3:30 to 5 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 23, in the Popp Martin Student Union, Room 200.
  • Reminder: The Workplace Community Giving Campaign, which supports the Arts and Science Council and the State Employees Combined Campaign, ends tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 18.
  • Exciting News from the Division of Research: Charlotte’s Division of Research has announced the release of Research Shaping What’s Next: UNC Charlotte’s Research Strategic Plan 2022-2032! Read the full announcement here.

Charlotte, the UNC System’s leader in transfer enrollment, welcomed 3,500 transfer students for the 2024-25 academic year.   • Voluntary Disability Status Form: Human resources invites faculty and staff to fill out the “Voluntary Self Identification of Disability Status” form, in recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month. The form and the “ADA Accommodations Request” form can be found on the HR website.
  • Alienware RV Coming to Campus: Dell Alienware RV is coming to Charlotte from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 21. It will be parked at University Road in front of the Colvard Building.
  • Concur Update and Forum: The Concur homepage will feature a new default landing page starting Wednesday, Oct. 23. The Concur User Forum will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 24; register in the learning and development portal.
  • HR Power Hour: Human resources is hosting an HR Power Hour webinar at noon, Wednesday, Oct. 23, to inform Charlotte employees about the learning and development portal to engage with and track training opportunities.
  • Board of Visitors: Charlotte is strengthening its community ties by establishing a Board of Visitors. The inaugural board, composed of 54 members, includes representatives from city and county government, elected officials, business and foundation leaders and alumni leaders.
  • Third Annual GLII: The Office of International Programs hosted the third Global Learning and Internationalization Institute for 14 faculty members. This initiative supports faculty in developing goals for internationalizing their teaching and creating global learning experiences for students.

The curator, Art History Professor Jim Frakes, discussed the process of looking back on the history of the department through the lens of the artists who built it.
