Editor’s Note: Earth Month is right around the corner! This special edition of Niner Insider offers an overview of upcoming events and spotlights campus community members who are making an impact.

UNC Charlotte celebrates Earth Month throughout April, leading up to Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22. This year, the Office of Sustainability will host more campus Earth Month events than ever before, including the Earth Day Festival, a film series, a tour series and Campus Beautification Day!

- Earth Month Tour Series: Join the Office of Sustainability and campus partners for a series of tours from noon to 1 p.m., Thursdays, March 26, through April 16. Tours include: The Botanical Gardens, Campus Recycling and Waste Management, Land and Water and Green Buildings.
- Earth Day Festival: Celebrate Earth Month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m, Tuesday, March 31, and connect with on- and off-campus organizations focused on environmental stewardship in the Charlotte region.
- Swap Til Ya Drop: Refresh your wardrobe sustainably from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, during the Earth Day Festival in Belk Plaza. Learn how to donate items in advance for tickets redeemable at the festival.
- Earth Month Film Series: Join the Office of Sustainability and campus partners for film screenings and panel discussions from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Thursdays, April 2-23. The films will focus on various topics, including women’s roles in sustainable infrastructure, the future of transportation, environmental ethics and fast fashion.
- Campus Beautification Day: Plant trees, collect litter and assist with other beautification projects from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 7. The event check-in will be outside of Grigg Hall; register here.
- Student Garden Day: Repair, rejuvenate and plant the volunteer garden areas on campus — student gardens, staff gardens, pollinator gardens and Niner Pantry gardens — from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, April 17.
- Party for the Planet: Join student organizations for an evening of fun and activities centered around environmental sustainability from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 22, at Belk Plaza. RSVP here.
