UNC Charlotte employees have the option to receive their Form W-2 electronically for the 2019 tax year. This includes faculty, staff, temporary and student employees. Sign up is required by Monday, Dec. 31.Note: Employees who previously elected to receive their Form W-2 electronically do not need to take action again this year.

New security measures at UNC Charlotte Center City starting Dec. 2
Beginning Monday, Dec. 2, new security measures will be in place at UNC Charlotte Center City.Faculty, staff and studentsAll faculty, staff and students must wear their 49er ID cards at all times when inside the building. This includes those working and attending classes at UNC Charlotte Center City as well as all employee and student visitors to the building. Lanyards will be provided at the lobby desk.
Reyes needs shared leave
Elizabeth Reyes from the Special Education and Child Development Department in the Cato College of Education needs shared leave donations. The Benefits Office will accept donations through Nov. 12.To contribute leave, faculty and staff should refer to the requirements and participant forms in Personnel Information Memorandum (PIM) 29 or in the literature racks outside of the Benefits Office, King Building, Room 207. Faculty and Staff Social scheduled
Faculty and staff members can join colleagues for socializing and networking at a Faculty and Staff Social, which will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20, at Harris Alumni Center at Johnson Glen.Sponsored by Chancellor Philip L. Dubois, the social will feature light hors d’oeuvres, wine, beer and soft drinks. RSVPs requested.

Register for 2019 Engaged Scholarship Symposium
UNC Charlotte’s Engaged Scholarship Symposium will convene faculty, staff, students and community partners to discuss community engagement practices. This symposium is designed to facilitate creative collaboration across academic units, colleges and departments; to outline best practices and address challenges; and strengthen partnerships.
Condensing research for a three-minute pitch
During the annual Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition, graduate students have to summarize extensive and complex research or scholarship into a brief, compelling presentation that anyone can understand—in three minutes.This year’s event will be at 4 p.m., Friday, Nov. 15, in Atkins Library, Halton Reading Room. Attendees will be able to vote for their favorite presenters alongside the panel of judges.

Cato College dean accepts Tennessee job
Ellen McIntyre, dean of the Cato College of Education, has been named the dean of the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences at the University of Tennessee, effective Jan. 21.Prior to joining UNC Charlotte in 2013, McIntyre was interim associate dean for academic affairs at N.C. State University, department chair of elementary education at N.C. State and professor and University Scholar at the University of Louisville.
