Are you part of any clubs, groups or programs on campus?

Meet Nicole Lane, a freshman marketing major in the Belk College of Business and honors student in the Business Honors Program. Learn about her future aspirations, her love for racing and her involvement with the 49ers Racing team.

Why did you choose UNC Charlotte?

Bianca Rodriguez Castillo is a sophomore majoring in international studies and double minoring in journalism and Japanese. She’s also a first-generation college student and the second recipient of the Rick Bonnell Memorial Scholarship, created by the Charlotte Hornets Foundation; it awards $10,000 annually to a journalism student enrolled at a North Carolina college or university. The scholarship honors Bonnell, a Charlotte Observer reporter who was the Hornets beat writer at the time of his death in June 2021.

Holly Bennet is a first-year master’s student in kinesiology with a concentration in clinical exercise physiology. She is also a teaching assistant in the Department of Applied Physiology, Health and Clinical Sciences, where she teaches anatomy and physiology labs. Why did you choose UNC Charlotte’s graduate program?

April is Earth Month, and UNC Charlotte’s Office of Sustainability has published a listing of  campus and community events to celebrate.
Students, staff, and faculty are encouraged to participate in Charlotte traditions such as the annual tree planting, campus cleanup, the Botanical Gardens Spring Plant Sale and student garden day. New events this year include a clothing repair workshop, a cooking demonstration and an architecture colloquia. And don’t miss the Earth Day Festival, Wednesday, April 12, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Belk Plaza.

March is Women’s History Month, a time spent appreciating the contributions of women across time. This month, I would like to highlight an ever-expanding sector of women: Women in sports. Women are breaking glass ceilings throughout the sports world as athletes, coaches, creatives,  staff, and directors. This community of women is mighty, expanding upon the legacies of those that came before to create space for those that come after. Here are the stories of just a few remarkable women in sports at Charlotte.

Lavender Graduation is a ceremony held on college campuses nationwide to honor lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and allied students.

Alexa Schoubert is a senior, majoring in communications with a concentration in public relations and a minor in American studies. After seeing her sister graduate from UNC Charlotte in 2021, Schoubert decided to make her mark, earning awards, such as the Chancellor’s and Dean’s list; being a crucial part of the “Amplify” campaign; and joining clubs and student council to bring positive change to the University. Why did you choose UNC Charlotte?

According to the Education Data Initiative, the average undergraduate spent between $628 and $1,471 for books and supplies last academic year.

While textbook prices have been gradually increasing over the past few decades, universities have started adopting textbook affordability initiatives to help students with rising costs.
