University faculty to participate in review of Emancipation Proclamation

UNC Charlotte faculty members David Goldfield, Robert Lee Bailey Professor of History; Cheryl Hicks, associate professor of history; and Debra Smith, associate professor of Africana studies; will participate in the discussion “The Emancipation Proclamation: A Review” scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 23, at UNC Charlotte Center City.

This free, public event will focus on the proclamation and its constitutionality and legacy, as well as the 13th amendment to the Constitution. The Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, Charlotte Mecklenburg Community Relations Committee and the UNC Charlotte College of Liberal Arts & Sciences are cosponsoring this discussion.
