Kendrick Lamar concert tickets to go on sale

Tickets for the April 10 Kendrick Lamar concert in Halton Arena will go on sale at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 12.

Prices start at $15 for UNC Charlotte students (limit two tickets per University ID) and $22 for faculty, staff and the public.

Lamar, dubbed the “New King of the West Coast,” will bring his “Poetic Justice” and hip-hop rhymes to campus on Wednesday, April 10. Doors to Halton Arena will open at 7 p.m.; a special guest performer is to be announced.

Formerly known as K.Dot, Lamar grew up in Compton, Calif. The 25-year-old performed on the Jan. 26 episode of Saturday Night Live, hosted by Adam Levine. His latest album “good kid, m.A.A.d City” recently went gold.

During his upbringing, Lamar was surrounded by an eclectic range of music – from the Isley Brothers to Tha Dogg Pound. At age 16, he released his first mix tape “Y.H.N.I.C.” With TopDawg Entertainment, Lama released four projects in a five-year span – “Training Day,” “No Sleep Till NYC,” “The Kendrick Lamar EP” and most recently “The Kendrick Lamar OD.”

Lamar has worked with a wide range of respected music veterans, such as the Game, Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, Little Brother, Jay Rock, DJ Quik, Scott Storch and Cool & Dre.
