The Office of Community Affairs in the University Advancement Division is seeking volunteers to assist with various beautification projects at Governor’s Village schools as part of the University’s Giving Green effort.

UNC Charlotte and TIAA-CREF are partnering together on this initiative to enhance the learning environment of the students at the four schools – Alexander Elementary, Martin Middle, Morehead STEM Academy and Vance High. Each organization is recruiting 40 volunteers to assist with beautification projects to be determined.

Volunteers are needed from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, March 15. Students, faculty or staff members interested in helping in this initiative should email Jordan Harris at jordanharris@uncc.edu or call 704-687-7788.

The UNC Charlotte/TIAA-CREF partnership at Governor’s Village dates to 2011. Since its inception both organizations have provided mentoring, tutoring, job shadowing and other opportunities to the four schools.

Giving Green is the University’s campus-wide initiative to support the institutional mission to enhance the cultural, economic and social fabric of the greater Charlotte regions. Throughout the year, students, faculty and staff stake their claim in service to and support of a myriad of nonprofit organizations in an effort to enhance the quality of life of Charlotte’s citizens.
