First-ever spring football scrimmage April 20

UNC Charlotte 49ers football will play its first-ever Green and White Spring Game at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 20, on McColl-Richardson Field.

Advance tickets for the general public can be purchased online or by calling the 49ers Athletic Ticket Office; the cost is $10. UNC Charlotte students will be admitted free; students must get their ticket online. Seating for students and the public is general admission; current season ticket holders will have reserved seating via the 49ers seat selection process. The McColl-Richardson Field ticket office will open two hours prior to kickoff for walk-up sales and will call ticket distribution.  A valid photo ID is required when picking up tickets.

A 49ers Football Tailgating Contest will start at 9 a.m., April 20. The 49ers marketing team will select the winner based upon creativity, atmosphere and 49ers spirit. Gates to the football stadium will open at 11:30 a.m.

Game day event parking and traffic management will be in full effect for the April 20 scrimmage. Faculty and staff members should expect:

  • High traffic, restricted parking and restrained movement around campus from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. 
  • The only entrances/exits to/from campus that day will be the Main Entrance from University City Blvd. (Hwy 49) and the Mary Alexander Road and Cameron Boulevard entrances from John Kirk Road (see map)
  • All other entrances will be restricted to game ticketholders with Game Day parking passes. These passes will determine how ticketholders will enter the campus
  • Faculty/Staff permits will not be valid in any parking decks or lots assigned for football event parking
  • Reserved spaces located in game day parking lots will not be available on football game days
  • F/S Permits will be limited to East Deck 1 (if you have purchased premium F/S area access) East Deck 2, East Deck 3 and North Deck. All other lots and decks will be used for football ticket holder reserved parking and paid Visitor parking. East Deck 1 will be the non-game visitor parking area; gates will be down and visitor rates will apply to all except those Faculty/Staff who have purchased premium “gated” F/S parking with their permit
  • Phillips Road will be closed to all but emergency and service vehicles
  • University-owned vehicles that need access to the football complex will need a specific permit from the Office of Parking and Transportation Services. Call 704‑687‑0161 for requirements and additional information
  • Employees scheduled to work football events (e.g., dining staff, work crews) will be given a specific permit to park in the upper levels of Union Deck

Individuals are advised to avoid campus between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., April 20, unless they have game tickets and a game day parking permit, class or pressing business.
