‘State of Asian Affairs’ part of heritage month celebration

Tuesday, April 9, 2013

As part of the University’s celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, the Multicultural Resource Center will host “The State of Asian Affairs in Charlotte” at 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 10, in Student Union, Room 200.

According to Regena Brown, the MRC’s assistant director for student organizations, this event aims to help the University’s Asian and Asian-American student populations become informed citizens of their broader community by bringing together on-campus Asian student organizations with other Asian organizations throughout the city, including the Carolinas Asian-American Chamber of Commerce.

“Panelists will lead a discussion about how students can best translate their on-campus experiences, challenges and successes to what it will be like living and working in Charlotte,” said Brown. “We hope it will not only provide examples of specific supports and community resources that are available in and around Charlotte, but networking opportunities as well.”
