Guyer named outstanding educator by Sustain Charlotte

Regina Guyer, associate director of the IDEAS Center, was chosen as Sustain Charlotte’s Outstanding Educator; she was recognized recently at the second annual Community Sustainability Awards presentation for her efforts to aid Sustain Charlotte to realize “Charlotte 2030: A Sustainable Vision for Our Region.”

A nonprofit organization, Sustain Charlotte has as its mission to inspire, inform and advance sustainability across the Charlotte region. According to its website, the group promotes and facilitates cross-sector collaboration among the public, business, nonprofit and academic communities in Charlotte and provides information and opportunities for greater public engagement in decisions that shape’s Charlotte’s future.

UNC Charlotte student Ray Atkinson, a member of the UNC Charlotte Cyclists Club, also was honored with a Community Sustainability Award in the transportation category.

The Infrastructure, Design, Environment and Sustainability (IDEAS) Center, part of the Lee College of Engineering, was created to focus University expertise on the challenge of creating and advancing a more sustainable built environment.
