Nursing students close to endowing scholarship

Monday, April 22, 2013

In an effort to fund the first student-led endowment in the University’s history, the Association of Nursing Students (ANS) is roughly $2,000 from their goal of establishing a $25,000 scholarship endowment in memory of classmate Ashley Lutz.

The Ashley Lutz Memorial Scholarship in Nursing will be awarded for the second time this year to a student in good standing who is enrolled in the Bachelors of Science in Nursing program. Reaching the endowment goal of $25,000 will ensure funding for the scholarship in perpetuity.

The ANS would like to recognize Sigma Theta Tau, Gamma Iota Chapter, and School of Nursing alumni, faculty and friends for their contributions and support to date.

Members of the campus community are asked to consider joining the Association of Nursing Students to take the final steps to honor Lutz’s memory for generations to come.

To donate online:

Select “Other” from the dropdown menu on the right, and click “Submit Dropdown Field.”

Type “Ashley Lutz” in the designation name box. Be sure to include gift amount in the designation amount box, and click “add.” Then click the button on the bottom right to proceed to the next step.

Proceed as prompted. Individuals may opt to make gifts in honor or in memory of a loved one, and to have others notified of the gift, such as the Lutz Family. Matching gifts from an employer are a great way to increase gifts.

To donate by mail:

Send donation to the Office of University Development, Attn: Heather Shaughnessy, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, 9201 University City Boulevard, Charlotte, N.C. 28223. Make checks payable to the UNC Charlotte Foundation and include Ashley Lutz Memorial Scholarship on the memo line.
